MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller and MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweler are an addition to the product line of motion detectors with a camera for visually verifying alarms. In addition to taking photos upon alarm, these two new detector models can also take photos at the user's request, upon an alarm from another device in the system, and according to a schedule. The PhOD detectors are sold separately and are clearly indicated on the packaging and in the Ajax app.

Ajax users can now use updated privacy settings to restrict access to visual data in the security system. The new The Privacy menu allows you to set exactly when users can request photos (when the system is activated or at any time) and determine which users can make such a request, or view photos or videos from the integrated surveillance cameras.

The new privacy settings are available in the updated Ajax apps and OS Malevich 2.13 . The MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller and MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller detectors can be ordered through authorized Ajax Systems partners.

The background

Photo verification of alarms is now the standard in the security industry. Motion detectors that visually verify alarms, even if the security system is only mobile and requires no external power, are expected to become widespread. This is evident not only from feedback from our partners but also from sales growth. Since the launch of the MotionCam (2019) and MotionCam Outdoor (2021) detectors, the number of devices sold worldwide has reached one million.

According to the Our customer stories : these detectors protect homes, hospitals, schools, factories, museums, and many other objects. Some security companies and police stations report a 95% reduction in patrols due to false alarms thanks to photo verification. MotionCam is not only popular with users, but also has received international recognition from security experts.

This performance is based on a convenient visual verification feature and complete user confidence. MotionCam detectors have, from the very beginning, captured and transmitted images upon triggering an alarm when motion was detected. The goal was to develop the detector software to prevent third-party interference and to prevent camera activation on demand. From activating the camera to displaying a series of images in the app, the entire process is as secure as possible. Visual data is encrypted during transmission and storage, is not processed or analyzed on the server, and every detector action is logged.

This approach has earned the detectors user trust, but a single Photo by Alarm function seemed insufficient. There was a clear market demand, particularly from the professional community, for the Photos on Demand feature.

A professional approach to the Photos on Demand feature

The Photos on Demand feature not only helps end users verify that everything is in order, but is also designed for professional use. Trusted PRO accounts can use the new detectors to take photos to verify alarms and monitor events for surveillance purposes, or to configure the camera during installation.
A good example is monitoring alarms and events in the PRO Desktop app. For example, suppose a detector or tamper trigger is reported, or the hub warns of communication or power supply issues. With permission to take photos on demand, the responsible PRO account can monitor the suspicious activity and, if necessary, dispatch a patrol. In PRO Desktop, the useful floor plans are linked to the building profile and are available in just a few clicks. The request to take the photo and dispatch the patrol is logged.

The Photos on Demand feature helps choose the best location for the detector when installing a security system. An installer doesn't even need to secure the MotionCam with double-sided tape; they can simply hold the detector in their hand, take the photo on demand via the Ajax PRO mobile app, and adjust the location based on the received photo. This feature is also useful if the detector needs to be reconfigured during further operation.

Photo with scenario to confirm other system alarms

The OS Malevich 2.13.1 update allows PhOD detectors to take photos when other system devices, such as fire detectors, leak detectors, and/or opening detectors, are activated, and when an alarm button is pressed. By creating a scenario with just a few clicks, users and the security company can receive photo confirmations of alarms from detectors near or within sight of the PhOD detector.

Thanks to the new With their Photo by Scenario function, PhOD detectors optimize the fire department's work. Activating FireProtect or FireProtect Plus automatically activates the camera of the nearby motion detector. The control room operator can view the actual situation within seconds. This significantly reduces fire department response times due to false alarms. Many similar scenarios can occur with other devices.

The The "Photo with Scenario " feature was developed in response to a request for photo confirmations of fire alarms. The request came from our partners in Norway, where we were conducting a joint project for fire safety. a UNESCO World Heritage site against fire. And this is not the first project using Norwegian expertise to improve fire detection within an Ajax security system. OS Malevich 2.10 We worked together to implement the Interconnected Alarm Delay feature within the FireProtect product line.

Schedule photo to automatically take photos at a specified time

With the release of OS Malevich 2.19 All MotionCam (PhOD) detectors receive the function Photo according to schedule Now a PhOD detector can automatically take pictures at a specified time.

The request for this feature came from Spain. The region has a lot of vacant properties, which are often targets for looters or squatters. Such buildings require not only protection against burglary, fire, and flooding, but also an easy-to-use tool to automatically and regularly check that everything is in order inside.

A scheduled photo also helps you monitor the area at predetermined times. For example, you can check whether a gardener or cleaning company will arrive on time, whether contractors will be present during business hours, and so on.

Photo according to schedule is available for all PhOD detectors of the Baseline, Superior and Fibra product lines.

Complete control over privacy

With MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller and MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) Jeweller we have taken a step forward in protecting your privacy and access to visual data. We have Added a Privacy menu to the hub settings so Ajax users can properly manage the Photos on Demand feature.

The new menu allows administrators to control which users have access to detector photos and integrated surveillance camera videos. A PRO account (for example, an installer) doesn't have access to these settings, but the hub administrator can grant permission to use the Photos on Demand feature. By default, this feature is disabled for all users.
