Over the years, Dahua has continuously invested in the development and innovation of full-color technology to solve the challenges of low-light surveillance.
In 2018, the company launched Starlight and Starlight+ technologies, which allow cameras to effectively capture color details in low-light environments.
Dahua focuses on further improving low-light surveillance and officially released the Full-Color concept in 2020, enabling 24/7 color surveillance through the introduction of an F1.0 super aperture, a 1/1.8" high-performance sensor for large targets, and Dahua's own ISP 4.0 technology. The color information of important targets in the scene can be captured even at night, which can be used as evidence in the event of an investigation or backtracking.
In 2021, the company continued to upgrade its technology and launched Dahua Full Color 2.0 technology. It further expanded the Full Color "family" and integrated 4K, panoramic, zoom, and other technologies to facilitate the development of high-end products, offer a more comprehensive product system, and improve low-light surveillance.
To further explore this remarkable technology, this year's Dahua TechMonth showcases several full-color technology integrations that create greater business value for customers and end users. Here's a brief summary of these exciting solutions:
1. Full-color + TiOC
The TiOC (three-in-one camera) has three main functions: smart dual lighting, active deterrence, and AI. It can effectively warn intruders with active deterrence and alert users promptly with a real-time alarm, providing proactive video surveillance for properties that require 24/7 security.
TiOC uses full-color technology to capture color images in dark environments. The smart exposure technology also provides time-sharing control and prevents interference from flickering red and blue light in the image. Watch this video to see TiOC in action.
2. Full-color + Panoramic
The Dahua Full-color Dual Lens 180° Panoramic PTZ & IPC devices are equipped with dual sensors that deliver a 180-degree field of view. After the right and left lenses capture an image, the camera calculates the characteristic values of the left and right images to prevent warping and pixel loss using standardized image correction technology. Dahua's advanced pixel-level metadata algorithm then seamlessly stitches the image together, resulting in a seamless 180° wide-angle view.
The panoramic IPC offers EPTZ, which provides a panoramic view of the scene, including sub-views focused on a specific area or target. For the panoramic PTZ camera, both the panoramic and detailed views support AI functions and can be deployed independently in different directions to cover larger areas. 3. Full-color + ZOOM
The motorized vari-focal lens of the upgraded Dahua Full-color 2.0 network cameras has approximately 5x optical zoom and autofocus, delivering clear color detail of the monitored scene even after zooming in. Thanks to the long-range illumination, the camera can capture clear color images even from a distance.
4. Full-color + 4K
The Dahua Full-color 4K camera delivers enhanced color images and surveillance footage 24/7. The 1/1.2" image sensor (currently Dahua's best low-light IPC sensor) provides 110% more pixel size than the standard 8MP sensor. The F1.0 large aperture captures more available light, and the maximum light energy the sensor can receive is doubled.
Success Story: Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park
The Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park , located in Rosengarten, Germany, covers an area of approximately 50 hectares. It is home to nearly a thousand animals representing approximately 100 species found in Europe. The park's management was looking for a comprehensive camera system capable of performing a variety of tasks. "We chose Dahua because it offers a complete, customized solution that meets all our needs," says Arne Vaubel, director of the Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park.
"A full suite of innovative cameras equipped with key technologies such as full-color and thermal imaging were chosen for this project. We are pleased that our cameras allow the park to monitor the habitat and health of wildlife at all times without disturbing them, which also helps the park achieve efficient operation and management," says Kai Wockenfuß, Pre-Sales Support Technical Engineer at Dahua Technology GmbH.
A notable Dahua camera in the park is the 8MP Full-color Fixed-focal Warm LED Bullet WizMind Network Camera . Equipped with a high-quality sensor and a large aperture lens, it can capture clear color images even in the dark or at night. Its light-sensing technology allows the camera to capture more available light and produce more colorful images of the monitored scene, enabling 24/7 monitoring of the park's wildlife.
The future of Dahua Full-color technology
With the success of Dahua Full-color in the market, what does the future hold for this amazing technology?
First, minimizing white light pollution is at the top of the list. Some full-color cameras on the market still use white light, which can affect the human eye and cause severe light pollution in the monitored scene. Touchless full-color cameras are a solution that Dahua has explored with its multi-spectrum algorithm. Dahua's Multi Spectrum Fusion technology extracts the details and brightness of the visible and infrared spectrums to bring the fusion brightness close to the brightness of visible light, allowing the camera to deliver better images.
Another aspect Dahua is focusing on is the deeper integration of full-color with AI. Full-color technology is constantly improving, and with it comes more intelligent solutions that can deliver clear HD images at night, just as they do during the day. The TiOC, for example, combines full-color, AI, and active deterrence (warning lights and siren) into a single, comprehensive solution, creating a closed-loop system that includes early warning, active deterrence, and feedback. It has been recognized by many authoritative industry organizations and has even received distinguished awards .
With the continuous development of this technology, full-color imaging can also be directly applied to intelligent analysis and computing. It will become a mainstream technology that everyone can use to optimize their scenarios, which aligns with Dahua's mission, "Enabling a safer society and smarter living."
